Don’t Feed the Parasite: Best Natural Cleanse Solutions
Article Summary:
- Around 85% of Americans are estimated to be infected with some manner of parasite. Parasites can range from tiny organisms that cannot be seen by the human eye, to huge worms that reach several feet in length.
- Some people are more likely to fall victim to parasitic infections than others, but almost all parasites are dangerous. While some only have minor symptoms, new studies are finding that various forms of parasite can have long-term health implications, and some are even deadly.
- Parasitic infections are caused by protozoa, ectoparasites, and helminths. An infection can either be spread through consumption of contaminated food and water, a bite, or contact with various infected sources.
- It can be difficult to diagnose a parasite in some instances – particularly as certain parasites do not cause any obvious symptoms. When you do notice symptoms, they vary according to the parasite you are infected with, and can range from stomach discomfort, to rashes, fatigue, and confusion.
- Though it is important to seek help from a medical professional to help you determine how to treat your parasitic infection, it is worth noting that a comprehensive approach to healing must consider dietary changes.
- My At-Home program contains an intensive 7-month parasite cleanse that includes herbs, binders, tinctures, emulsions, and more.
A parasite cleanse involves removing all of the dangerous foods like grains and sugars that can feed parasites from your system, and replacing them with foods that have been proven to kill parasites and remove their waste products like pumpkin seeds, probiotics, and garlic.
You have probably heard plenty of horror stories about parasites. From world-record breaking tapeworms that cause serious life-threatening problems for some people, to ticks transmitting Lyme disease, we encounter parasites on a regular basis.
Unfortunately, diagnosing the existence of a parasite in your system can be incredibly difficult. Though we can use blood tests, fecal examinations, colonoscopies and x-rays to search for parasites when symptoms begin to appear, many people may currently be living with a parasite without any knowledge whatsoever. In fact, estimates suggest that 85% of all Americans have some manner of parasite living inside of their body – commonly within the intestinal tract.
As international travel becomes more common, the rate of parasitic infections has grown within the United States, and across the globe. Parasites can cause a range of symptoms depending on their type, including constipation and heartburn, vomiting, and in very rare, yet severe cases, even death.
What are parasites, and how can we get rid of the uninvited visitors that could be plaguing our systems?
An Introduction to Parasites
The average human body is crawling with hundreds of different strains of bacteria and yeast. Before you panic, however, that is entirely normal. Remember, the digestive tract alone holds over three pounds of bacteria. When this bacterium is properly balanced, they can be essential for promoting nutrient absorption and good digestion. However, when an intruder steps into the mix, then problems can begin to occur.
Parasites can range from microscopic organisms that are invisible to the naked eye, to huge tapeworms that measure several feet in length. These parasites can enter your body in a multitude of different ways, sometimes through contact with animals, infected people, or infected portions of food and drink. When they are ignored, and treatment is not provided (as is frequently the case for some parasites), an infection can last for years, and even lead to chronic disease.
Those most likely to suffer from a parasitic infection include:
- People who have a compromised immune system or chronic illness
- People who travel to, or live within, subtropical regions
- People who swim in rivers, ponds, or lakes where parasites are common
- People who work in childcare
- People who regularly work with soil
- People who suffer from leaky gut syndrome
While some infections are easily treated, others are incredibly difficult to remove from the system once a parasite has taken hold.
The Dangers of Parasites and What Causes a Parasitic Infection?
Some parasitic infections cause very minor symptoms, which means that people can live with the parasitic intruder in their system for several years without even recognizing the infection. Alternatively, some very dangerous forms of parasites can lead to fatal, and long-term health implications when they are not quickly and effectively treated.
For instance, recent research suggests that:
- Protozoan parasites might increase the risk of colitis in some patients.
- Parasites may cause stunted growth in the developing world.
Lyme bacteria (the bacteria often transmitted by ticks), can hide inside of parasitic worms and eventually cause chronic brain-based diseases.
In general, parasitic infections can be caused by three organisms: protozoa, ectoparasites, and helminths. While protozoa are single-celled organisms that can live inside of your body, such as giardiasis – a serious infection that can be contracted by drinking infected water, Helminths are multi-celled organisms that live outside, or inside of your body. Helminths are more commonly referred to as worms, and can include thorny-headed worms, flatworms, tapeworms, and roundworms. Ectoparasites are multi-celled organisms that can live on, or feed off your skin. Ectoparasites include ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, and some mites.
An infection caused by a parasite can spread in a variety of different ways. For example, helminths and protozoa can spread through contaminated food and water, or even contaminated blood. Some of these parasites may also be passed on through sexual contact. There are some parasites which are spread by insects that act as a carrier for their disease, for instance, malaria is caused by a parasitic protozoon frequently transmitted by mosquitos.
Parasites are dangerous because they destroy the tissues present in their host, and cause significant damage, as well as producing their own toxic products in waste that can lead to various debilitating health problems. Many hosts suffer from infections, discomfort, and disease as a result of a parasitic infection. Parasites in humans can cause a variety of significant issues, such as skin rashes, fatigue, diarrhea, anemia, and more. It’s estimated that up to 100 different types of parasitic worms alone can be found within the human body.
How to Tell if You Have a Parasite
Parasites can be a significant problem in subtropical and tropical regions of the world. However, as mentioned above, the amount of parasitic infections that are present across the globe today is increasing in part because of the increase in international travel. The most common parasitic infections that are found in the United States generally include toxoplasmosis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, and cryptosporidiosis.
Parasites in humans can cause a range of very serious problems. The transmission of Lyme disease can sometimes lead to chronic disease, whereas the deadliest parasitic infection, malaria, can sometimes have fatal results. In less drastic cases of parasitic infection, symptoms can range all the way from issues of anxiety and nervousness, to skin rashes, fatigue, diarrhea, anemia, and more.
Commonly, the symptoms that an individual will experience because of a parasitic infection will vary depending on the organism that has entered their system. For instance:
- Cryptosporidiosis often causes stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, dehydration, fever, and weight loss.
- Trichomoniasis is a form of sexually transmitted disease that can be caused by a parasite, but typically causes no distinct symptoms. In certain rare cases, this parasite might cause irritation, redness, itching, and unusual genital discharge.
- Toxoplasmosis often causes symptoms that are similar to suffering from the flu. For example, you may find that you have swollen lymph nodes or aching muscles, alongside pains that can last for extremely long periods of time.
- Giardiasis is one of the most common waterborne parasite infections in the U.S. It is caused by something known as Giardia intestinalis, which is a single-cell protozoan that leads to symptoms of diarrhea, cramping, and general discomfort.
- Strongyloidiasis is a less common disease in the U.S., but it is also one that many people have heard of. Though it is less dangerous in healthy people, in people with weakened immune systems it can become overwhelming, with larvae infecting the organs and lungs with something called “hyper infection.” Though hyper infection is rare, it can also be fatal.
- Human tapeworm is one of the most well-known forms of parasitic infection. Usually caused by eating contaminated fish or meat that has been infected with worm larvae, tapeworms can cause abdominal pain, malnutrition, and diarrhea.
Dietary Changes for Treating Parasite Infections
Often, a treatment plan for a parasitic infection will depend on the specifics of your diagnosis. Some doctors may prescribe medications that will help to kill off the parasite, but it’s also important to note that this is only one part of the comprehensive approach to overcoming a parasitic infection. One of the most important things that you can do when overcoming a parasite, is to make sure that you are following the correct dietary precautions. Eating the right foods, and avoiding substances that might strengthen the parasite, can limit your symptoms and help to remove the infection from your system as quickly as possible. After all, the parasite eats the same foods as you do, and the items you choose will either nourish, or destroy them.
Most experts recommend that if you do have a parasite, your first step should be to stay away from grains and sugar as much as possible, including natural sources of sugar like honey and fruit. Remember, removing a parasite is a difficult job for the human body, and during the process it’s crucial to make sure that you are supporting your system with regular exercise, plenty of sleep, a good diet, and limited exposure to toxins. Ideally, it’s a good idea to invest in foods that will help to eliminate parasites from your body for good. These foods will form part of your parasite cleanse:
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is full of B-vitamins, making it great for nourishing the body. It can support a natural pH and lead to improved digestion. As Apple cider vinegar has been found to be particularly effective at killing parasites, it is recommended to take one teaspoon up to three times per day.
2. Probiotics
Probiotics are the “good bacteria” that help to restore the healthy gut bacteria in your system that may have been wiped out by parasites or antibiotic use. Probiotics are essential for restoring intestinal flora, even after a parasite has been removed. Avoid taking them within an hour of apple cider vinegar.
3. Cinnamon
A delicious spice that can be used to deliver a range of fantastic health benefits, cinnamon has also been proven, alongside ginger, to be a natural remedy for certain forms of parasite. Mixing ginger and cinnamon into a cup of tea or smoothie could be a good way to get your regular daily dosage. However, make sure that any smoothies are free from dairy to help promote quick intestinal recovery.
4. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an excellent substance for supporting the immune system, and is also a powerful antioxidant. However, what most people don’t know is that vitamins are also very useful in parasite removal. The literature recommends that if you suffer from symptoms of parasites, then you should be taking about four grams of vitamin C every day. It is important not take it at the same time as magnesium or calcium, as the nutrients may neutralize each other.
5. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a perfect example of a natural anti-fungal, and it’s also highly nourishing for the body. If you’re not using it in your cooking by this point, you could consider adding several spoonfuls per day into your diet to help promote good digestive function. Coconut oil can also support human hormones and the reproductive system.
6. Garlic
Garlic is highly effective at helping to rid the system of parasites and yeast. In order to get a healthy amount into your body each day, you might consider mincing one or two cloves of garlic into a glass of water to drink between meals.
7. Olive Oil
Olive oil is yet another type of anti fungal that can support the removal of yeast and parasitic waste. Add between one and two spoonfuls into your food, perhaps on items such as vegetables and salads, on a daily basis.
8. Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are perhaps the most valuable substance you can consume when it comes to getting rid of parasitic infections for good. Capable of indirectly killing tapeworms and various other forms of parasites, pumpkin seeds should form an essential part of any parasite cleanse. These seeds work because they contain a substance known as curcubitine – a property which can paralyze tapeworms so that they are incapable of holding onto intestinal cells.
9. Papaya Seeds
Another highly effective seed-based cure for parasitic infections. Papaya seeds have plenty of great anti-parasitic qualities thanks to their content of papain – an enzyme that helps to break down parasites. According to a study published in the Journal of Medicinal food in 2007, parasites were eliminated completely from the stools of 77% of children given a combination of honey and dried papaya seeds, compared to an eradication of only 17% in those given the honey alone.
10. Berries
Finally, though it’s important to be cautious with your consumption of berries because they are high in sugar when fighting off an infection from a parasite, it’s worth noting that various berries have been used as a traditional remedy for fighting back against intestinal parasites. The effectiveness of berries is often linked to the chemicals present within them known as polyphenols – which can be found in all plants.
Foods to Remove From your Diet (Don’t Feed the Parasite)
Of course, there is more to a parasite cleanse than simply knowing which foods you should be eating. Cleansing is also about removing dangerous foods from your body that might be having a negative impact on the healing process, or reducing your chances of removing the parasitic infection from your system completely. In order to kill parasites in your body and remove the bad bacteria that these parasites often consume, you will need to remove as much bad bacteria from your gut as possible, and this begins with eliminating grains and sugars from your diet.
A good parasitic cleanse will always involve removing all grains, processed foods, and most forms of sugar from your diet. Many experts suggest that you limit your intake of fruit wherever possible too.
The ultimate foods to avoid during your cleanse include:
- Processed foods – these foods do not support immune system health and can simply prompt your intestinal system to work harder when it should be fighting back against infection.
- Sugar – sugar is known to be an ideal way to super-charge the parasites in your body, and reduce the strength of your immune system – which can be a very dangerous combination.
- Wheat – many grains that are consumed commonly today, particularly those that contain gluten, quickly break down into sugar and cause inflammation in the intestine.
- Alcohol – alcohol reduces the function of the immune system, leading to potentially significant long-term problems.
- Pork – pork can often be contaminated with parasites. The reason for this is that pigs digest whatever they eat very quickly, and everything that they eat is consumed into the system – meaning that whenever we eat pork, we are exposing ourselves to substances that could be dangerous to our health.
Remember, while your parasite treatment will often depend on the type of infection you have, the way in which you manage your diet through a full parasite cleanse will help you to rid your body of these dangerous creatures.

So if one has developed a food sensitivity to cinnamon do you think there is any connection with having parasites? Does the body think can’t handle cinnamon when in reality the cinnamon is killing the parasite and creating die off toxins? Or is it completely unrelated?
It’s possible that could be the case or part of it. It also could be related to something completely different though too. I don’t believe there is a straightforward answer with that.
I have a parasite and the emergency room confirmed it but it will be days before they give me the results and I can’t find the image of it online anywhere n I have a picture of it
Parasites range from microscopic in size. The 2 most common drugs for worms seem to be Albendazole and Mebendazole (vermox). Albendazole and mebendazole are in the same chemical family, albendazole is newer. My husband and I took Albendazole (We’ve got it from “NOWORM247” 👍 , just search in Google for this code to find reliable source, I don’t remember the link) and it certainly works! Yuck! We knew we had them, but we were even blowing them out of our noses, eeeuuu, so gross! Is it worth it? YES, yes it is, especially if you consider the thoroughly disgusting alternative. This medication is very hard to get and very expensive. But after waiting a long time We’ve got it from internet (way cheaper…). I was able to get rid of the parasites and able to eat more freely 😀.
Thank you so much Dr Davidson
I have suffered from eczema and extreme itching since 2009. It could be a parasite as we tend to travel extensively overseas. I am starting on the parasite free diet – interestingly, I had already ordered organic pumpkin seeds and bought Bragg’s apple cider vinegar for my husband to help with weight loss.
Thanks for your article and anything else you might be able to recommend for eczema! I have NEVER been a fan of tanning, but someone shared how their daughter’s eczema was helped by tanning. I have tried it and have found great relief. I do not want to do this forever though due to skin cancer risks. SO – want to try the parasite cleanse route.
Thanks again for any help you can provide.
I would definitely focus on the liver/bile duct area and GI tract to help. If you haven’t read my book, there are a lot more details about those areas in it http://amzn.to/2owMk4J
My doctors and I also guide and customize clients through this along with going upstream to the source if you are in need of further help with it.
I need help with this I have parasites. I think it’s a work.
I have suffers from severe eczema on my hands. I purchased a near/middle red infrared heat lamp from my local pet store. It has not only helped my skin but I can directly point the heat/ light at other problem areas and it is benefiting all sorts of different ailments I’ve been experiencing over the last year. It’s almost unbelievable.
I have read that fresh pinapples, papayas and their seeds, as well as coconut milk and meat are good for killing parasites. Pleas let me know if that is incorrect because i am needing to clense my body of parasites….thanks for your help
Make sure you drink apple cider vinegar, as well as bathing in it with baking soda and lemon juice. It will help tremendously!
Dr Jay I am at my wits end! I have been to Drs the past several weeks trying to get help. I told them I had passed parasiets(worms) in my stool and I wanted a stool kit to diagnose what was going on. I had started The Wormwood Kit days before going to the Dr. I was given the kit and took it home. While having the bowel movement I passed 2 tapeworms about 6″ long. I placed them in the vile along with the sample. My liver and spleen feel sore. I called the Dr to tell her this. She told me the parasite test came back negative! What!! The vile was full of worms! How can it be negative?? I can’t get any help and I’m frightened. I continue to pass worms and I’ve been doing the Wormwood Kit now for a week. I called the Dr back again today and was told she could send me to an Infectious Disease Dr but the test was negative and she didn’t know what else to do. I’m afraid these worms are penetrating the intestinal wall. Please help me to know what else to do! Thank you
Did you get help yet ?

Doctors told me the same thing too. That I lab test came back negative. So, Doctors adamantly say that I don’t have parasites. Howbeit, I have a serious case of parasites… different species. I’ve passed them in my stool. I hear them vocalizing, and feel them crawling around in my gut and intestinal areas. Doctor told me my skin was crawling. I told the Doctor that “My Skin Don’t Crawl,’ ‘It’s Parasites!” They cause different kinds of pain from bites, stabbing and burrowing through my flesh. I Have tried almost every herbal cleanse on the market. Most get rid of a few worms but basically have no affect on adult parasites. I’ve been on a parasite cleanse diet for two years and have tried many parasite cleanse products including turpentine. Yet, I’m still infected. I’ve spoken to and been examined by various Doctors, including a GI Doc, and an two infectious disease Doctors. They all say based on negative stool test that I don’t have parasites. Even though in my blood test, the “monocytes” show parasite activity. But, they totally ignore that fact, and deny parasites as my problem adamantly. So, I paid for my own comprehensive lab stool test (out of network $359) which came back positive for two types of parasites. I proved them all wrong! But, my Primary Physicians and two Infectious Disease Doctors reviewed the findings and discussed my situation with each other. They all came to the conclusion that I still don’t have parasites! And worst of all, they refuse to treat me for them. I was told to leave the office! Therefore, I believe the Medical Society Denies Parasites on Purpose. There’s a conspiracy going on. For parasites have the same symptoms as many of the serious illnesses like pancreatitis, ulcers, strokes, heart attacks, cancers, seizures, EPI, etc. Therefore, rather than diagnose a Patient with Parasites, they will make more money off of a Heart Attack, Ulcer, or Liver Disease, which may indeed be the symptoms of a serious parasitic infection! At this time I’m looking for a Lawyer. This is Serious Malpractice!
Can u tell me where u got your independent tast done. Thank upi
Years ago, in the thows o a devestating infestation, I too sent in a sample and paid cash for it. It came back negative… and I stuffed it with liver flukes. Perhaps it is a conspiracy, think of all money they make. have since done hundreds of coffee enemas, which saved my quality of life. Prayer is essential.
I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, lymes disease, mycoplasma punemonia, cocksacie vurus, Epstein Barr vurus and four other infections . I treat my gut with a great probiotic, take magnesium a dose of 250 a day., activated charcoal, milk thistle, vitamin c 2 grams, vitamin d and omega 3,6(9 capsule I have improved quit but still get ill on a regular basis. Been reading on parasites do you think it would be good to introduce organic apple cider vinegar.? Not sure on the amount as I read different amounts.
Thank you and thank you for a great article
C VITAMIN!!! OVERDOSE ON IT! and more d vitamin!
I am currently doing the parasite cleanse (using Mimosa Pudica seed, binders and a plant based diet) and wondering if it is ok to drink Kombucha.
Yes, it’s safe. 🙂
What about the sugar?
Hi Sharon,
Can you please update as to if the Mimosa Pudica seed worked for you?
Thanks in advance!

Hi I believe I have parasites because I have all the symptoms diarrhea fatigue cramping and not hungry. Went to dr and he gave me antibodies and I still have cramping stomach . Does that mean I still have them inside diarrhea stoped but cramping still good their
I’ve just started a heavy metal detox protocol after removing mercury fillings. After listening to you on Jonathan Otto’s Depression and Anxiety Secrets, Bonus Episode, I’m just wondering if I should stop and do a parasite cleanse first or can I take the Mimosa Pudica at the same time? Maybe do both at a slower pace together?? What do you suggest?
I think I have a parasite I have no energy and for the past few days no matter what I eat I’m still hungry and I have constipated as well I’m looking for a good cleanse to start with my question is if I’m pregnant (maybe) can I still do a parasite cleanse??
It would be best not to cleanse while pregnant, probably. But ask your doctor. Mal-nutrients to the baby may harm it.

I have been suffering for a year – I had gone to Punta Cana, DR last Feb. 2018 and two weeks after I got back I had stomach issues. Dr. did stool sample and said their was nothing. I could see white seeds like things in my stool and then I became constipated and my stomach swells up. I found out later that I have a hiatal hernia and now found out I have a porcelain gallbladder. I was gluten free for 5 years and was surprised when
I started having stomach issues that I had the hunger pangs and growling which I never had since I was gluten free. I believe that I got sick on pork when in Punta Cana. Is there a blood test that I can request to see if I do still have parasites. I am going through depression and anger out burst which are freaking me out. I am getting my gallbladder removed and hope this helps. I feel deep down that I have parasites and it is hard to tell your dr. when they think it is your head. Any suggestions??
Hi Dr. Jay, A follow-up to the question about allergy to cinnamon. Some people are very allergic to garlic and when they describe symptoms/reactions/etc. it sounds like parasite die off. Your thoughts?
There is definitely something going on. Regular MDs use the same tests they’ve been using for years and only identifiy commons parasites and bacteria. You have to find someone that does more comprehensive stool testing.
We just completed a dose of ivermectin and I have developed a strange body order. Could this be related to the parasite. Do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of it or when it will ease up? Thank you.
I believe that some doctors are not addressing scattering. The parasites go to your neck, throat, eyes, spine brain to avoid stomach acids and intestinal herbal treatments. You literally need to saturate your whole body to get them out of your body. You never see them in the stool but you are riddled with them. These creatures are extremely smart. How do you address this?.

I have been trying to parasite cleanse for years, I beleive they have just scattered deeper into and throughout my body now. I have some dried papaya seeds, like pepppercorns, will these work to parasite cleanse? Thank you.
I used parasitology.com for testing. Dr Omar Amin in Scottsdale. I did a phone consult with him and he did comprehensive stool test. He’s supposed to be the best Parasitologist in the US. After years of suffering and seeing 4 gastrointestinal Dr’s and numerous other Drs, Dr Amin did stool testing and I’m positive for parasite (roundworms). I have appt with infectious disease Dr. I’ll see how that goes but if I can get rid of it through diet, I’d rather. I can’t believe no conventional Dr ever mentioned parasites although I had all the symptoms including I lost 25 lbs. They gave me meds and expensive test. I’m losing faith in conventional Drs.
Hi Dr Jay,
I know this is an old post. I don’t know if it’s still active?
When doing a parasite /worm cleanse I’m very aware of no sugar, no processed foods, carbs, etc. As I do not generally eat any of those things anyway. However, maybe once or twice a month, at most, I like to have this organic ice cream from a local creamery. Is it okay to do this while doing the cleanse? I’ve been doing an aggressive cleanse since finding a couple of worms about 3 weeks ago. I’m very stressed and I was looking forward to my monthly cheat. But if it will undo all the work I’m doing with the cleanse, I will continue to avoid it.
Thank you!
I have 14 year old daughter that i believe has a bad parasitic infection. She has had pin worms before at age 5. And I literally had to make the doctor test her stool because they didn’t believe me. Now I am experiencing the same problem but worse they will not even test her and are now wanting to put her on anxiety meds. She has had a cough for months with brown sometimes black specs in the mucus. She’s cries every night with chest pains and joint pains all over. She itches and has a rash very dark circles under her eyes, no energy at all. I’m very concerned and dont know what i should do she’s recently said to me crying mom it’s getting worse every day and nobody will help me im gonna die. Please help me or refer me to someone who can please.
I’m going to see a Chinese herb specialist. I think you should too.i hope you guys get better.
Great article and very helpful tips! Knowing the type of parasite infection you have is important so you can choose how to treat it. Some parasitic infections disappear on their own, especially if your immune system is healthy and you eat a balanced diet.
Ladies I just realized a huge thing in fighting parasites. I have had all symptoms of them for years including pooping out the worms. It is getting bad I now have yellowing of my eyes just at the bottom of the whites I found out this can actually be eggs that were laid there. I also have a huge suggestion . I wear eye liner and it dawned on me that my eyeliner is most definitely reinfecting me. I have now thrown out all of my eye make up and will be going all natural for the next several months. I am restarting a parasitic diet and I am going to fast as much as I can during the diet they say it can take 6 to 8 weeks to rid your body of all the adult worms and eggs. Sometimes longer depending. I did my first harsh round today. Vitamin d supplement. Garlic salt gel 1000 mg. Papaya enzyme. And raw green pumpkin seeds. I can feel the fire in my gut the pounding in my head I feel like death but am going to fight these annoying things once and for all. So i suggest you all get rid of all your eye make up etc. Also boil tooth brushes daily to avoid reinfestation. Good luck.
I am in the process of doing a parasite cleanse with the full moon kit – what about pro-biotics can these be taken at the same time or do your products also inhibit the “good guys”, so when should they be taken ???
